Wooden books storage crate {wooden crate} is a genius reuse of stored away crates. I am loving this quick and sophisticated idea to organize books using wooden crates as storage. The wheels at the bottom of the wooden books storage crate makes it so easy to move.
Lori gave this crate a new life by simply sanding and staining the crate first and then stenciled the word “books” on it! Finally to give the crates a sturdy bottom she added plywood sheet and screwed in the casters. And sprayed it with rustoleum to protect the surface.
You will need:
Crate
Pre-stain
Stain
Stencils
Paint
Casters
Sanding block
Polycrylic
Instructions:
1) First sand the crate down until it is smooth and nice.
2) Apply pre-stain wood conditioner to safeguard the surface. It also helps the wood absorb the stain color better.
3) Follow the instructions on the can to pre-stain and stain the crates. The stain used here is Miniwax’s walnut color.
4) Wipe off the excess stain and let it dry.
5) Now use a paper tape to align the stencil evenly on the crate.
6) Use a foam brush to dab acrylic paint to stencil the crate.
7) Screw the casters into the plywood and you are ready to organize your books.
8) You can also spray it with Rustoleum matte protective spray for additional protection.
9) Also don’t forget to cover the bottom of the crate with a paper sheet. This will provide a smooth surface for the kids as they organize their books in it.
I love this kind of solution!
Thanks so much for featuring my project!!!
I so want one just like this! BRAVO!
